One rainy day in the recent past, while pondering his existence, Michael was drinking a cup of healthy and beneficial kawakawa tea. Sipping and staring forlornly out the window, a vaguely familiar sight walked passed bringing a wave of nostalgia. The cause of this feeling was a bare footed, scraggly bearded hippy wandering down the street, which transported Michael back a number of years to when he was working on one of his more enjoyable commissions.........

Back in 2014 Michael had been approached from a land far away, across the Pacific seas, from the country of New Zealand, but more appropriately known as Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud. This company residing there had a vaguely recognisable consumer product they wanted michael's help to illustrate a story around in his distinctly weird and wonderful way for their marketing material. This memory sparked a desire in Michael to hunt out those long forgotten illustrations, and the result being a series of the unaltered versions being released for the first time as puzzles and limited edition studio prints.

The Umbrella Series prints are authorised reproductions published by Michael Hsiung Studio. They are printed on 310gsm fine art cotton rag using museum grade archival pigment inks. Each print is signed, titled, and numbered within the print matrix,  embossed with the Michael Hsiung Studio chop, entered in our print register, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
